The team consists of seven highly motivated 5th year Mechatronics Engineering and Automation students at Ain Shams University in Egypt. The team’s primary objective is to design and manufacture a Mars Rover from scratch to participate in the ERC competition. This is the team’s capstone graduation project, which started from October 2022 and shall be delivered by mid-June 2023. The team aims, as well, to establish a new rover team at their university that can participate annually in the competition. The participation in ERC aligns with the larger objective of promoting Egypt’s image as a leader in the field of space exploration and attracting more investment in this sector. We aspire to be the first Egyptian team to participate in ERC on-site, with the ultimate goal of encouraging more Egyptian teams to participate in the competition in the future. The team is assisted by two faculty advisors; Dr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, the head of the automotive engineering dept. at ASU FoE and Dr. Omar Shehata, a Mechatronics and Robotics professor at ASU FoE.
