TEAM DESCRIPTION

ProjectRED is a student team born in late 2019 within the Department of Science and Engineering Methods (DISMI) of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. It was one of the first ”Learning by Doing” student projects in our Department (which was founded in 1997) and it is still the largest one in terms of students involved. The team currently has more than 50 members, all of them students or recently graduated, coming from the first years of the bachelor’s degree up to the PhD level. The majority of them, since a rover needs to be effectively built and controlled, are from engineering courses like mechatronics, management, mechanics, and computer science. In addition, there is a small but
fundamental group of students belonging to the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences. Our main sponsors are our department itself, E80, and Walvoil, which cares about the main generic financial support. Technical partners are, then, Maxima Dia, Conrad, Mecc2000, and RawPower. Among the others, great partnerships have been renewed with SolidEnergy and Sentiero International with which we design innovative 3D-printing techniques and solutions, implemented in critical parts of our rover. The team is supported by senior engineers, who provide technical advice on critical areas of our project development. Some of them work as researchers in the university and are our faculty advisors: Prof. Andrea Spaggiari, Fabio Immovilli, Cristian Secchi, Fabrizio Pancaldi, and Franco Francia.
