TEAM DESCRIPTION

Team Horizon is an interdisciplinary student rover team from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), founded in 2019 with the vision of competing in leading global space-robotics competitions. United by a shared passion for robotics and planetary exploration, the team designs and develops advanced Mars rover systems to tackle real-world extraterrestrial exploration challenges.
Representing India on the global stage, Team Horizon achieved remarkable milestones at international rover competitions. The team became finalists at the European Rover Challenge (ERC), securing World Rank 19 in 2023 and improving further to World Rank 18 in 2024 among top university teams worldwide. In 2026, the team also achieved World Rank 25 at the International Rover Challenge (IRC), strengthening its global presence in space robotics.
Earlier, Horizon consistently demonstrated strong engineering and system design capabilities by successfully clearing the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) of the University Rover Challenge (URC) for three consecutive years (2020–2022).
Through participation in prestigious international competitions supported by global space and robotics communities, Team Horizon continues to build a reputation for innovation, technical excellence, and collaborative engineering, while actively promoting space technology and robotics awareness through workshops, exhibitions, and outreach initiatives.
Driven by curiosity and the spirit of exploration, Team Horizon continues to push boundaries in space robotics and inspire the next generation of engineers and explorers.
