ProjectRED is a student team from the DISMI Department of UNIMORE, founded in 2019 with a “Learning by Doing” approach to designing planetary exploration rovers and competing internationally. It has achieved significant results in the European Rover Challenge, with its rovers Prosperus (2022, 16th On-Site, 3rd Remote), Orione (2023, 9th On-Site, 3rd Remote), and Sirio (2024, 21st On-Site, with major technological advancements).

The team participates in major scientific events such as IAC 2024 and Research Night, as well as student-inspiring events like engineering career days. It is currently preparing for ERC 2025 in September and the RoverTräff 2025 competition in May.

Organized like a company, the team is divided into Hardware, Software, Science, and Business divisions. ProjectRED collaborates with local and international companies and academic institutions, aiming to create a bridge between students and industry experts while fostering opportunities for university spin-offs and start-ups in the robotics and aerospace sectors.

Actually the team collaborates with important partners such as: Regione Emilia Romagna, Fondazione REI, E80, Walvoil, Redox, Bett Sistemi, Maxima-Dia, FGL, Corghi, Mecc2000, Sentiero International Campus and SolidEnergy.
