The METU ROVER team is a multidisciplinary group of 41 undergraduate students from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. The team operates under the Mechanical Engineering and Innovation Society which focuses on project-based initiatives that bridge engineering and innovation since 2018. The members come from diverse academic departments, including Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, and Industrial Design.

The team has been working on the rover project, which aims to develop a rover capable of simulating space missions here on Earth, showcasing performance in competitions that replicate space exploration missions. The team is divided into 5 sub-teams: Mechanics, Electronics, Software, Science, and Organization & Finance, allowing each member to contribute their expertise to the rover’s development. Also, aside from these 5 sub-teams, METU ROVER has three committees where the team embraces a collaborative working system in which team members contribute to the team not only their sub-teams but also in the area of their interest or experience which are the Tool-Fixture-Design Committee, the Sponsorship Committee and the Team Promotion Committee. The Tool-Fixture-Design Committee was established to enhance the productivity of the team, design and manufacture workshop equipment. The Sponsorship Committee was established to support the organization team in securing financial support, and the Team Promotion Committee was established to increase the team’s visibility and extend the team’s network.
