We are a group of students from various technical backgrounds split into 5 different subsystems with each targeting a different area of specialization. Namely: Mechanical, Electronics and Controls, AI and Automation, Life Science and Research.

This year we have qualified for the University Rover Challenge held in Utah,USA annually; the competition is held in NASA’s very own and well decorated MDRS- Mars Desert Research Station. We can proudly say that we are the only Indian Rover Team which has had a 100% success rate in qualifying for the finals held in the USA every single year since its origin in 2016.

We are one of the best teams in the world despite the competition being filled with very honorable and deemed universities like Stanford, Michigan, Monash and various IITs to state the least.
We have consistently been one of Asia’s Best Rover Teams and have achieved top 10 positions in the competition on several occasions. And we are proudly the two time winners of The John Barainca Award, the award given to the best science team in the competition. Additionally, we secured second finish in last year’s ERC Remote edition, along with three best task awards in the competition. We also won the third place at the International Rover Challenge, securing almost full points in Business Plan Presentation and Project implementation and management assessment.

All these laurels were achieved by the competitive side of the team, we take immense pride in developing research oriented papers and patents. Our Research subsystem is one of the most active research organizations present in the campus publishing 15 papers this year, highest in the history of Mars Rover Manipal and our University.

Our alumni network is one of the best and is spread across the world with most of them either working in prestigious companies or pursuing research in distinguished universities. One of MRM’s founders is currently the president of SPROS, the organization which conducts IRC.
