TEAM DESCRIPTION

The Makercie Rover Team was founded in February 2023 by six students from the University of Groningen who wanted to go beyond their physics studies and gain hands-on engineering experience. What started as a small initiative has grown into a diverse team of around 30 enthusiastic members united by a shared passion for engineering, exploration, and learning.

Supervised by Dr. Bahar Haghighat, Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Engineering and Technology Institute of the University of Groningen, Makercie promotes strong collaboration across faculties and brings together students from a wide range of cultural and academic backgrounds.

Our team focuses on developing technical skills while creating a supportive, safe, and enjoyable environment where members can learn from one another. Bringing together students from a wide range of disciplines, including physics, engineering, computer science, and design, we encourage interdisciplinary collaboration to solve complex challenges. With our recently established collaboration with Hanze University of Applied Sciences, we continue to expand our expertise and capabilities.

After winning the ERC 2023 Remote Formula, we are excited to take on the challenge of the On-Site Formula in 2026. This journey is made possible thanks to the support of our sponsors: the University of Groningen, the Jantina Tammes School of Digital Society and AI, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, ODrive, and 3D Connections.
