The Makercie Rover Team was established in February 2023 by six students at the University of Groningen who wanted to get more out of their physics studies. Makercie is now a very diverse team of around 50 enthusiastic members, driven by a passion for exploration and learning. Supervised by Dr. Bahar Haghighat, a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Engineering and Technology Institute of the University of Groningen, our challenge-driven team promotes inter-faculty collaboration and brings together students from various cultural and educational backgrounds. We aim to boost various skills and allow people to experience a safe and fun working environment where they can learn with and from their peers. With our recently established collaboration with Hanze University of Applied Sciences, we are fueled by our victory in the ERC 2023 Remote Formula. we are excited to tackle the On-Site Formula in 2025. We are supported by several sponsors: the University of Groningen, Jantina Tammes School of Digital Society and AI, Eurocircuits, YER , Hanze Makerspace, FileMap and Demcon. We are grateful for their support as we embark on this new challenge. Additionally, Makercie is a constituent team within GEARS, a new assocation which aims to be a hub for competing student teams in Groningen.
